With the colder months looming, there’s no better time to start getting your bedroom cosy. Get ready to embrace the fairy lights, pumpkins and blankets galore as we provide you inspiration on how to decorate your room for autumn.
Warm lighting is the perfect way to add a cosy and inviting ambience to your bedroom. Whether you choose to opt for a warm lamp, bulb or trope fairy lights, you’ll feel instantly relaxed as soon as you step into your room. Or, if you’d prefer to dim the lights even more, candles are ideal for adding a soft, amber glow. You can choose from a variety of autumnal scents – think pumpkin spice and cinnamon swirl.
If you’re redecorating your room for autumn, it’s a good time to declutter and get organised to keep things simplistic. Fitted wardrobes can be tailored to the dimensions of your room, even if space is at a premium. And, they’ll enable you to tidy up your space and provide a home for each of your belongings. Consider using rustic, wooden furniture to keep in line with the season. Rustic accents are great for bringing the outside in.
While we’ve already touched on introducing candles, the smell of autumn is loved by many, which is why there are so many ways to make your room smell like fall.
For instance, why not get creative and make your own DIY potpourri? To combine your favourite autumnal scents, all you have to do is slice your chosen citrus fruits and dehydrate them by popping them in the oven on a low setting. Once cooled and dried, mix them with your preferred spices – cinnamon, pumpkin spice, vanilla or cloves. Additionally, you can create your very own essential oils blend to help you get a good night’s sleep throughout the season. Combine orange, cinnamon and cedarwood and pop them in a diffuser to make your room smell like an autumnal haven.
Nothing says autumn like a warmer colour scheme, consisting of amber, burgundy, forest green and gold. Switch up your home’s interior by implementing these colours throughout your bedroom. You can do this by swapping out your soft furnishings, such as your cushions, blankets and throws. Layer these around your room to introduce warmth and comfort – perfect for when you’re snuggling up on a cold, rainy evening.
